He didn’t know how he ended up here. Flowers and magazine in one hand, ’s flat key in the other. hoped wouldn’t miss her copy of the key. He was standing on the stoop of the apartment building staring up at the third floor. He couldn’t muck up the courage to put the key in and turn it until the lock clicked. He knew the truth now, and he couldn’t even tell her she had been right all along.

turned and started walking in the opposite direction. He looked back at the building and raced to the door. With a shaking hand, he opened the lock and climbed the three sets of stairs.

He stood in front of ’s flat door in silence. He was shaking like a leaf in an autumn wind. He had never been this nervous in his life. He had to get things right again. He rose his fist to knock and waited patiently for an answer.

woke with a start. Her head was throbbing, and her bright bedroom only made it worse. She stretched and almost fell out of bed. Her legs didn’t seem to want to function. Like a zombie, she walked into the kitchen, turned on the coffee pot and then plopped down on the couch. Her sense were so muddled by her headache, she couldn’t even think, let alone be aware of her surroundings.

looked to the side and saw laying there. She prodded him in the leg with her finger. He didn’t wake up or even stir. If he hadn’t been breathing, you would have thought he was dead.

The coffee pot let off a loud beeping noise to announce it was finished brewing. stood and walked back into the kitchen to pour herself a cup. As soon as the caffeine hit her system, she could feel her body and mind waking up. There was nothing like good old fashion caffeine.

A short knock sounded at the door. That was weird, she wasn’t expecting any visitors at this early in the morning. Still sipping her coffee, she unlocked the door and opened it.

“Morning .� She said, turning and walking away from the open door. She took finished her cup and started pouring another one when it hit her.

“What are you doing here?!� She shrieked.

“I came to set things right.� said, looking at the floor.

“What’s to set right?� said placing her mug on the counter and crossing her arms.

“I shouldn’t have said any of those things.�

“Yeah, you shouldn’t have done a lot of things.�

stood there awkwardly and looked around. His eyes fell on the sleeping and he frowned.

“I brought you these flowers, but I see I’ve already been replaced.� He dropped the flowers and magazine on the counter and turned and walked out, slamming the door behind him.

woke up at the sound of the door. He sat up and ran his hand through his hair. He yawned.

“Did I miss anything?� He asked.

“Go home, .� said. “I’ll call you later.�

didn’t say anything, but gathered his jacket and keys. He gave a quick hug goodbye and then left.

collapsed into he bar stool. She looked at the bright daisies and smiled. They were her favorite flowers. She opened the card.

“I’m so sorry, ,
These few weeks have me realize how stupid I’ve been. Even if I’ve ruined everything, I’ll always love you. �


laid the card face up on the counter top and sighed. She then picked up the cover of HELLO Magazine that was sitting next to the flowers the headline read:

tore the magazine to the headline page and her eyes read the short article:

I, Kieran Douglas, have done everything I possibly could to get to the top. I’m not proud of what I’ve done, but an article I printed three weeks ago has been haunting me. It’s amazing what a punch to the face will make you realize. I was so focused on pushing a relationship out into the open for my own benefit, that I printed a lie. never cheated on , and never tried to steal her away. and were honestly and truly in love, and I ripped it away.

But because I planted that seed of doubt, it grew into something terrible. But I wasn’t alone in this. Everyone knows about ’s brief kiss with ’s sister. It seems now that I was not the only one trying to sabotage a relationship. But because of me and that stupid girl, it blew out of proportion, and hearts were broken.

So, , if you are reading this, I’m sorry. I hope it pleases you to know that I turned in my letter of resignation a week ago, and will no longer be writing for tabloids. Don’t make suffer for what I’ve done, everyone makes mistakes, and everyone deserves a second chance.


dropped the magazine to the floor, slipped on shoes and ran out the door, not even bothering to lock it behind her. She ran down the three flights of stairs and burst out of the outside door. She knew wouldn’t have drove, he avoided driving whenever he could. She looked both ways down the side walk. When she caught sight of the back of his head, she ran, calling his name. He didn’t stop, or hesitate. He was too far away, there was no way he could hear her.

“!!!!!� She yelled, doubling over as she tried to catch her breath. The back of ’s head disappeared into the crowd. “Wait! Please! I LOVE YOU!�

“Well there’s no need to shout.� ’s voice said behind her. “I only went to the shop.“

span around with bright eyes and a big smile. She threw her arms around his neck and planted a kiss on his lips.

“I’m sorry, .� said softly. “For everything, really I am.�

“I don’t care what happened.� exclaimed. “I can’t think about my life without you in it. It’s just too hard.�

“I love you.� said with a smile.

“You have no idea how long I’ve been waiting to hear that.� replied. “And , no matter how much of a git you are, I will always love you.�

They both started laughing and walked down the street hand in hand. and the guys would be wanting to hear about this.
